Tipping Point

The book that I have been reading " The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell set me thinking about the examples, with the help of which the author has illustrated his theories in the book and also live examples happening around us. The book tells us that little things make a large difference like, how did Hush Puppies became a successful brand from a trend started by few kids in bars of downtown Manhattan and how the crime rates in America mysteriously started declining in 1992. He talks about the Law of Few, Stickiness factor and the Power of context . Now, when I relate his theories to the present Anti-Corruption Movement In India, I can draw a lot of parallels and relate to his theories. If we sit back and ponder over the entire Anna Hazare campaign, we all will be amazed that how did and when did this campaign become so huge? This campaign is fighting for an evil which has been there in our society for generations but then why this huge fight back all of a sudden? Some say that all the scams like CWG scam, mining scam and 2G scam had really ended the patience of the Indian citizens and then this campaign happened and as they say rest is history. Some say that Anna Hazare remind them of Mahatma Gandhi and as this was the 2nd freedom struggle of India, they all wanted  to be a part of History being recreated. So, in the words of Malcolm Gladwell, what was the tipping point? What was the one dramatic moment in this entire campaign when everything changed all at once? I think the one moment that was the Tipping Point was the arrest of Anna Hazare, as that was the event which united the entire nation . The image of a defenseless, innocent man getting arrested for his selfless gains and for the good of the entire nation touched the hearts of millions and immediately thousands got involved in the campaign. It was the stickiness of this image that caused this campaign to become an epidemic. the fact that it was so memorable that it created change and spur people to action.
